Exiled guardian founds rival city; homeland begs for mercy.

  1. Shieldbearer Evelyn carries the city's invisible barrier alone. Sister Leah and fiancé Kyle accuse her of treason and cast her out. The moment she crosses the boundary, the shield fractures and monsters swarm the streets.

  2. Warlord Alaric pulls her from the wilderness. Together they raise New Dawn, a fortress where survivors find safety and Evelyn discovers a partnership built on respect rather than duty. The new stronghold thrives while the old one rots.

  3. Desperate envoys arrive begging Evelyn to restore the broken ward. She watches the ruins from her walls, knowing compliance would erase everything she and Alaric forged. The choice is no longer about power but about which world deserves to exist.

Stand-outs

  • Protagonist's absence triggers immediate apocalypse
  • Romance blooms from mutual survival, not rescue
  • Rejection of redemption arc for former betrayers
