Ayla shreds her betrothal and weds the illegitimate brother who worshipped her.

  1. Ayla grew up a nameless ward at House Thorne, promised since childhood to Lucien, heir to the fallen dragon dynasty. Her lineage stayed buried while she waited for a wedding that would restore her birthright.

  2. On the engagement day, Lucien humiliates her before the court, annulling their pact to propose to Mara, her foster sister, who declares herself the true dragon heir. The contract turns to confetti in Ayla's fists.

  3. Refusing to plead, Ayla turns to Kael, Lucien's bastard-born younger brother who has loved her silently for years. They marry within hours, binding her fate to the one man who never needed a crown to choose her.
